Plans and Ideas
As a Technology Integrator I am fascinated by the idea of Making in the classroom. Since starting this course, I have run a Coding Club and have recently started a Robotics Club for Grades 1 through 3 using the Lego Wedo. The WeDo is proving very popular with the students and they are enjoying creating projects. This week some of the students have reached a point where they are starting to program their devices using either Scratch or the WeDo software.
For the project below, I plan on introducing the games to the grade 2 teachers this year to see if they are interested in trying it out. They do cover multiplication and I'm sure they will be interested in the work that I've done. I'm also pondering different programs that I can create to help younger students learn their alphabet and spelling of words.
In terms of my long range goals, I hope to establish a proper Maker Space within my school where teachers and students are able to come and build using a variety of materials and technology. This is been developed as part of the Technology Plan for the elementary school.
